Privacy Policy

Forewrite provides free online tools. We built them to be privacy-first, and this policy explains in plain language what information is involved when you use the site and how it is handled. By using Forewrite you agree to this policy.

The short version

• Most of our tools run entirely in your browser — your files and inputs for those tools never leave your device and are never uploaded to us.
• You do not need an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or any sign-up details to use the tools.
• We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking.

Tools that run in your browser

Many tools — including our PDF tools, image editor, and most generators and converters — process everything locally on your device using your browser. The files you open and the output you create stay on your computer or phone and are never transmitted to our servers. This is why these tools work even on confidential documents.

Tools that use our server

Some tools need to do work that cannot happen in the browser — for example, fetching a public web page, checking a domain's email records, looking up public data, or generating text with AI. For these tools, the input you provide (such as a URL or some text) is sent over a secure (HTTPS) connection to our API so it can return a result. We process this input only to produce your result and do not store the inputs or outputs of these tools.

To keep the service available and prevent abuse, our servers may temporarily log basic technical request information (such as your IP address, the time of the request, and which tool was called) and apply rate limits. This information is used only for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the service running.

Third-party services

A few server tools rely on third parties to function, and your input for those specific tools is shared with the relevant provider only to produce your result:

• AI text tools send the prompt you provide to our AI model provider to generate a response.
• YouTube tools query the public YouTube Data API for the video or channel you request.

These providers process the data under their own privacy terms. We only send what is needed for the tool to work, and only when you actively use one of those tools.

Preferences stored on your device

To remember your choices, your browser stores small preferences locally — such as your theme (light or dark) and your chosen language. These stay in your browser, are not sent to us, and are not used to track you. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings.

Children

Forewrite is a general-purpose utility site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here.
