Gold Price Calculator
Live gold price plus karat purity and four weight units — your gold's value, calculated instantly in your browser.
Fetching live gold price…
Live price is USD per troy ounce. To value in another currency, replace it with today's local price per troy ounce and update the code above.
Indicative only — gold rates move constantly and dealers add making charges, taxes and spreads. Always confirm the final figure with your jeweller or dealer.
Enter the weight of your gold, pick the unit and karat purity, and this gold price calculator works out the pure gold content and total gold value for you. It tries to load a live spot price per troy ounce on page load, and if that is unavailable you can type today's price in any currency. Everything runs in your browser, so your numbers are never uploaded, and the result updates the moment you change an input. Figures are indicative — making charges, taxes and dealer spreads still apply.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the gold value calculated?
Your weight is converted to troy ounces (1 troy oz = 31.1035 g, 1 tola = 11.6638 g, 1 kg = 32.1507 troy oz), multiplied by the purity factor (karat ÷ 24) to get the pure gold content, then multiplied by the price per troy ounce. So 10 g of 22K at a given spot price is valued on its 91.6% pure gold content, not the full 10 g.
Where does the live gold price come from?
On load the tool fetches the current gold spot price (USD per troy ounce) from a free, public gold-price API and prefills the price field, showing the update time and source. If the request fails — offline, blocked or the service is down — it falls back to manual entry so you can still use the calculator with today's price.
Can I calculate gold value in my own currency?
Yes. The live price is in USD per troy ounce, but the price field is fully editable. Replace it with today's local price per troy ounce for your currency and update the currency code, and the total value and price per gram recalculate in that currency.
What do 24K, 22K, 18K, 14K and 10K mean?
Karat measures gold purity out of 24. 24K is pure gold (about 99.9%), 22K is 91.6%, 18K is 75%, 14K is 58.3% and 10K is 41.7%. The purity factor is simply karat ÷ 24, and you can also enter a custom percentage if your hallmark differs.
What is a tola and which units are supported?
A tola is a traditional South Asian unit of weight equal to 11.6638 grams, still widely used for gold in India, Pakistan and the Gulf. The calculator supports grams, troy ounce, tola and kilogram, converting any of them to troy ounces for the valuation.
Is the calculated value the price I will get from a dealer?
No — treat it as indicative. It reflects the pure gold content at the spot price only. Dealers and jewellers add making charges, refining costs, taxes and a buy/sell spread, so the actual price you pay or receive will differ. Always confirm the final figure with your jeweller or dealer.
Is my data private?
Yes. All calculations run entirely in your browser. Your weights, prices and totals are never sent to a server — the only network request is the optional live-price lookup, which sends none of your inputs.
