No. The file is opened and processed directly in your browser using JavaScript, and never leaves your device — nothing is sent to a server at any point. That is what makes it safe for contracts, invoices, medical records and other confidential documents, and it is why the tool still works with your network disconnected.

108 dpi (the default) is right for screen use and keeps files small. Pick 144 or 216 dpi when the image will be printed, zoomed into, or run through OCR — text stays crisp at those settings. Higher resolutions produce proportionally larger files and take a little longer to render.

PNG is a compressed format, so the slider trades file size against visual fidelity. Around 90 is visually indistinguishable from the original for most documents; drop to 70 or so when you need much smaller files and can accept slight softening around text edges.

There is no limit imposed by us, because nothing is uploaded — the only real constraint is your device’s memory. Documents of a few hundred pages are fine on a normal computer; very large scanned files are more comfortable on a desktop browser than on a phone.
