108 dpi (the default) is right for screen use and keeps files small. Pick 144 or 216 dpi when the image will be printed, zoomed into, or run through OCR — text stays crisp at those settings. Higher resolutions produce proportionally larger files and take a little longer to render.

TGA stores pixels without lossy compression, so it preserves every detail exactly but produces bigger files than JPG or WEBP. That is usually what you want for archiving, editing or print work; if size matters more than fidelity, the PDF to JPG or PDF to WEBP tools will be far smaller.

There is no limit imposed by us, because nothing is uploaded — the only real constraint is your device’s memory. Documents of a few hundred pages are fine on a normal computer; very large scanned files are more comfortable on a desktop browser than on a phone.
